My Last Days At Work!

The company I work for is closing down. Lots of co-workers are angry and there may possibly be some fireworks to see in the office so I thought you might want to see my last days at work and any disgruntled employees that may get brave enough to confront the higher ups.

Ever wonder what I'm doing on my computer?
Well, here's your chance to be a legal, non-preverted peeping Tom!

This is a screen capture from my computer.
It will refresh automatically every five seconds.

My last days at work!

Days/Hours/Minutes remaining...

Sorry this cam is not crystal clear.
The video is streamed over the web to camstream.com, then they encode it for re-broadcast.
This makes it a little bit fuzzy.
Also due to this process there is about a 15 to 20 second lag, so if you ask me to do something on cam you will likely see it delayed.

You will catch me here for the remainder of my days Monday through Friday between the hours of 7AM and 4PM CST.
Those are just my office hours.
Who knows what you might see otherwise.

Oh one more thing.
Soon I will be adding a new page link that goes into more detail as to what I have done for this company to help propel them into success.
It will be awesome so stay tuned.

Please read the info that I wrote below as to why I made this page.

Hi and welcome to this simple web cam page.

I am a Systems Administrator for a construction company.

I put this page together just for fun to let the world watch the last days that I will be working for a company that I have been working with for over five years now.

It is not my intention to slander this company in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

I just merely want to record and broadcast my last days here.

Let me give you a little background as to why I put this page up.
I will have to try and not mention any names as to avoid any possible legal ramifications.

How do I sum this up really fast? Hrmmm....

The company I work for is/was a thriving multi-million dollar construction company for the lumber/sawmill industry.

For a while now work has been slow. The owner claims that there is no work to be had and that the market conditions make keep our company non productive for over two years.

The company owner gave each of us a small talk explaining that there would be severe cutbacks since the market conditions were so poor at this time.

So they say there is no work... some of us beleive their is work to be had, but they either over bid it or dodge the work completely.

Why would they do this?

Why get rid of your most valued of employees that helped you get where you are today?
Valued employees that have been with you for many years, like the Chief Financial Officers, Systems Administrators, and Engineers.

The company claim this is just a hibernation, that it will come back, but I doubt it.
Once you get rid of all your really good people, it will be like starting back from scratch once you decide to crank it back up.
It just doesn't make sense.

I could think of several reasons, but we will probably never know the truth.

One scenario could be this.
The two bosses have been evaluating the stock market for over a year now, and its entirely possible that they think they have found a much easier way to make a living and thus care not about the company anymore.

Im sure they have aquired enough wealth to sit back and learn how to day trade their way to riches.
Stocks and Options Trading is a hard thing to learn. It takes time to watch the charts daily. I feel that lots of small jobs that would keep everyone employed would only deter from their stock learning.

Wouldn't you rather trade the market if you knew how than do construction and stay away from home several weeks at a time?

On the other hand, the owner may simply want to take this dip in market times to restructure the company completely.

It’s anyone’s guess. I just know that come April 30th I will be out the door.
Put out to pasture as some say.
The only time I will be coming back through these doors will be to make service calls if they need me.
Trust me when I say there will be Consultation fees!

There are three reasons why I wanted to setup the cam.

First Reason:

On my last day, I am going to ask for my laptop that I have used for the past 3 years.
It's a decent laptop. A Dell D810 with 2 gig ram and a 1.73 GHZ Pentium M processor.
I know I can get better, at this time but I don't want to if I can be given one.
I feel that they owe me this.
I have done a LOT for this company, enabling them to take advantage of technologies that allowed them to proceed to new levels of success.
So I wanted the conversation that day to be on cam with audio so I will have it and all of you can share in this moment.
That’s why you see my back a lot and its got the doorway in it.
So you can see both parties.

Second Reason:

Boss#1 that created the company over 30 years ago built it up really big.
He brought in a partner (boss#2) 15 years ago with a long term goal in mind of eventually selling the company to him.
This way, boss#1 would transfer roles of CEO to President and he would be on the payroll thus providing him his retirement.
His long term goal was to build the company up, sell it, and stay on the payroll for residual retirement funds.

Boss#1's hobby is airplanes and he has incorporated 3 airplanes into the company that the company does not even need, but considers them a necessity for the company.

After the company was sold to boss#2, boss#2 has come to realize that in these time there are a lot of wasteful expenditures.
He is trying to trim the overhead and the airplanes high on the list.

I recently got word through the CFO that boss#2 wants to get rid of some of the planes.
Getting rid of one of these planes would be like cutting the right foot of of boss#1.

Bad news for him unless he wants to fork over cash out of pocket for it.
Good news for all of us as we like to see someone else get bent!

I do not think Boss#1 is aware of this. See he was conveniently out on vacation while boss#2 gave each of us the same speach about the place closing.

So for that reason I wanted a cam here with some audio in case some office entertainment in the form of fighting or cursing match broke out.
It may never happen, but sure would hate to not have anything set up to catch it.

Third Reason:

I just wanted video captures for memories and maybe make some ad revenue :)

So enjoy watching me with what time I have left.

Oh and I already know this may be the most boring cam page you have ever witnessed, but its just for fun.
